Telephones and Communication

The telephone system is run by Ghana Telecom and is relatively reliable. However, you will notice the overwhelmingly popular use of mobile telephones in the cities. The number of telephone lines in the country including fixed and mobile have increased significantly from 800,000 in 2003 with a penetration rate of 4%, granted that the population of Ghana is 20 million, to 1,835,000, representing a penetration rate of 9.1% in 2004.
